Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka's Daily Financial Times reported on April 22 that Sri Lanka's Garment Exporters Association (SLAEA) said that Sri Lanka still qualified for EU GSP+treatment until 2027, but the next round of review will be more stringent. The EU now not only requires beneficiary countries to sign international conventions related to human rights and the environment, but also must demonstrate measurable progress in implementation at the legal, institutional and governance levels. SLAEA calls on the government to promote policy reform in time to meet the new GSP+standards. The international reputation of Sri Lanka as a model of "morality and sustainable manufacturing" is an important advantage, and this reputation must be maintained.
