Textile Exports Rebounded Sharply And Garment Exports Continued To Fall.

The General Administration of Customs of China released the national cargo trade data in April 2020 in May 7th. In the first 4 months, the total value of imports and exports of goods trade was 9 trillion and 70 billion yuan, which was 4.9% lower than that of the same period last year. The decline was narrowed by 1.5 percentage points in the first quarter, of which 4 trillion and 740 billion yuan was exported, down 6.4%. In April, the import and export volume of foreign trade was 2 trillion and 500 billion yuan, a slight decrease of 0.7%, an export of 1 trillion and 410 billion yuan, an increase of 8.2%.

There are obvious differences between textiles and clothing exports: textile products are rapidly rebounding and rebounded under the impetus of epidemic prevention products, and the overall export growth is stimulated. The export of clothing was reduced by the decrease of external market demand, and the gap between the two was further widened. In April, textile exports amounted to more than one fold of clothing.

Exports of textiles and clothing are calculated in Renminbi.

In the 1-4 months of 2020, textile and apparel exports totaled 466 billion 400 million yuan, down 7.4%, of which 261 billion 300 million yuan for textile exports, 5.9% for growth, 205 billion 100 million yuan for clothing exports, and 20.2% for exports.

In April, textile and garment exports increased by 150 billion 170 million yuan, an increase of 14.8%, of which 102 billion 790 million yuan in textile exports, an increase of 56.2%, and 47 billion 380 million yuan in clothing exports, a decrease of 27.1%.

Exports of textiles and clothing are calculated in US dollars:

In the 1-4 months of 2020, textile and apparel exports totaled 66 billion 620 million US dollars, down 10% (the total export volume of national goods trade decreased by 9%), of which textile exports were US $37 billion 310 million, an increase of 2.9%, and clothing exports 29 billion 310 million US dollars, down by 22.3%.

In April, exports of textiles and clothing increased by US $21 billion 360 million, an increase of 9.8% (3.5% of the total growth in China's goods trade), of which 14 billion 620 million US dollars in textile exports, an increase of 49.3%, and 6 billion 740 million US dollars in clothing exports, a decrease of 30.3%.

Note: there is no single month data in RMB in 1 and February.
