The United States Will Levy Another 25% Tariff On Some Chinese Goods

According to the announcement recently released by the Office of the United States Trade Representative on the extension of the validity period of additional tariffs on goods in China's second batch of US $34 billion tariff exclusion list, some goods will be subject to 25% additional tariffs from March 25 this year.

Since July 6, 2018, the United States has imposed an additional 25% tariff on Chinese exports with a total value of about US $34 billion. On March 25, 2019, the Office of the United States Trade Representative announced that some of the above goods would be temporarily exempted from additional tariffs for a period of one year. Before the expiration of the one-year period, the United States updated its list of temporary exemptions from additional tariffs. Among them, 11 commodities were granted an extended exemption period of one year, and 22 commodities were not extended, and they will be subject to a 25% additional tariff from March 25. According to the announcement, the commodities that have been granted the extended exemption period include diving water filtering machinery, breast suction devices, etc., and the commodities that will be subject to additional tariff on March 25 include submersible centrifugal pumps, cast iron impeller shells, compressor shells designed for turbochargers, etc.
