Jilin Chemical Fiber Breakthrough In China 25K 50K Tow Carbon Fiber Industrialization

In July 24th, the China Federation of textile industry organized the "25K-50K polyacrylonitrile base wire and carbon fiber key technology and industrial development" project appraisal meeting. Experts of the appraisal committee agreed that the overall technology of the project reached the international advanced level.

"25K-50K polyacrylonitrile precursor and key technology and industrialization development of carbon fiber" project is a science and technology guiding project of China Textile Industry Federation. It is jointly undertaken by Jilin chemical fiber group, Jilin carbon and carbon fiber Limited by Share Ltd, Jilin Jinggong Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd. and Changchun University of Technology.

The appraisal committee is composed of Jiang Shicheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering and Xu Lianghua, director of the National Center for carbon fiber engineering and technology research.

According to the appraisal committee, the high quality polyacrylonitrile suitable for preparing large tow carbon fiber precursors was developed by using the independently developed nonmetal ion redox initiating system. A DMAC wet two step spinning technology for preparing homogeneous structured precursor was developed, and the stable production of single line 5000 ton 25K-50K precursor was realized. A constant tension control technology for large filament bundles in pre oxidation process is developed. Combined with intelligent temperature control and automatic coke removal process, the single line 2000 ton 25K-50K carbon fiber production is stable. The project has independent intellectual property rights and 3 applications for patents. The project has formed the annual production capacity of 16000 tons of tow carbon fiber precursor and the annual production capacity of 4000 tons of large tow carbon fiber production capacity, production and operation is safe and stable, and its product performance is similar to the international similar products. It has been widely used in wind turbine blades, rail transportation, sports and leisure products and other fields, and has good economic and social benefits.

The appraisal committee believes that the project has fulfilled the requirements stipulated in the task document, and the overall technology has reached the international advanced level. It has agreed to pass the appraisal and recommended that Jilin chemical fiber group further develop the market and speed up its popularization and application.

Song Dewu, chairman of Jilin chemical fiber group, said that the identification marks the breakthrough of Jilin's chemical fiber tow carbon fiber production technology after more than 10 years of scientific and technological research. It also marks the industrialization of China's 25K 50K tow carbon fiber. Next, Jilin chemical fiber will further enhance the stability of the production of large strand of carbon fiber precursor and carbon filament, accelerate the development of differentiated products, and better meet the new market demand.
