Wenzhou Footwear Exports Total Decline In Total Value

According to the latest statistics, in 2008, there were 2694 shoe making enterprises in Wenzhou. Before and after the peak of the footwear industry in Wenzhou in 2002, the industry accepted the view that "Wenzhou has four thousand or five thousand shoemaking enterprises." Although the total number of enterprises is decreasing, the total industrial output value of the whole shoe leather industry in Wenzhou is growing. In 2002, the total output value of Wenzhou shoe leather industry was 31 billion 800 million yuan; the total industrial output value of 2003 was 36 billion 500 million yuan; in 2008, the shoe leather industry of Wenzhou completed 65 billion 200 million yuan of industrial output value. In the 1-12 months of last year, the total value of footwear exports in Wenzhou was 2 billion 756 million 760 thousand US dollars, up 14.25% from the same period last year; the number was 527 million 631 thousand and 248 pairs, a 1.4% decrease compared with the same period last year; the average price of each pair of exports was 5.08 US dollars, up 16% over the same period last year.
