Vietnam Expands Shoe And Garment Industry Capacity And Tries To Establish Partnership With Cuba

In recent years, Vietnam has greatly expanded the production capacity of garments and footwear industry, and is now looking for opportunities to export fiber and cloth to Cuba.

Jose Hernandez Bernardez, Minister of the Ministry of light industry of Cuba, has held several dialogues with Vietnam Vinatex to discuss the production of raw materials for textiles and garments imported from Vietnam.

According to the preliminary agreement, Cuba will import fiber, cloth and denim from Vietnam and establish relations with Vietnam's textile industry.

Cuba and Vietnam have been linked to many industries and are now expanding their cooperation to light industries, such as garments, textiles and footwear.

According to Bui Xuan Khu, Vice Minister of industry and trade of Vietnam, bilateral trade volume can reach US $30 million in 2007, and the cooperative industries include oil and natural gas, cement plant construction and agriculture.
