If this strategy works, then the planting area will grow from 8000 hectares to 30000 hectares in 2015 and 76000 hectares in 2020.

At the same time, output will increase from 1500 tons last year to 60000 tons.

This plan needs to invest 9 trillion dong dong (US $474 million) to prevent the cotton planting area from falling down.

On the contrary, cotton demand continues to grow.

In addition, the textile industry needs about 350000 tons of cotton this year, but Vietnam can only produce 2% of the demand, so it is forced to import the remaining cotton.

In addition, cotton production declined and yield per unit rate was very low, which led to a large number of growers to plant other crops in recent years.

Experts pointed out that cotton production has been very low, so farmers may continue to change other crops, and cotton is mainly grown on barren land.
