In the face of Christmas demand alone, it is highly likely that orders will be pferred to Bangladesh.

According to the Pakistan government's estimate, the flood in 2010 will make the garment industry in Pakistan decline 7 to 10%.

On the other hand, imports from Sri Lanka to the European Union will give European importers more than 12.5% of their taxes.

However, AbdusSalamMurshedy, President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturersand Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh, said that the energy shortage in Bangladesh, coupled with the serious delays in the operation of raw materials and exports in Chittagong, will make it impossible for Bangladesh garment industry to grasp this business opportunity.

A president also said that although the garment export industry in Bangladesh has continued to grow well, if the energy problem can be solved, the garment export industry in this country can grow by more than 15%.

Supplement:

According to the research and statistics of World Trade Organization (WTO), Bangladesh has become the world's fourth largest exporter of garments after Mainland China, the European Union and Turkey.

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturersand Exporters Association (BGMEA) in Bangladesh said that Bangladesh should be the third largest exporter in the world if it is calculated according to the latest export amount and quantity.

Bangladesh is the largest supplier of cotton t-shirts in the European Union market, the second largest supplier of sweaters and jeans. Last year it was the second largest supplier of cotton trousers in the US market.

According to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) statistics, in 2009-2010, Bangladesh's clothing exports amounted to US $12 billion 590 million, accounting for 80% of the total export volume of Bangladesh.
