With the completion of the China ASEAN Free Trade Area in January 1st this year, Minnan enterprises have been eyeing the "big cake" of over 100 billion yuan.

Many southern Fujian enterprises have expanded the ASEAN market including Thailand through various channels. What should enterprises do to make full use of this opportunity?

"Whether it is to exploit the local rich natural resources in Thailand to expand the market, or to trade radiation with Thailand and Europe, to avoid trade barriers and frictions, Thailand should become one of the preferred countries for entrepreneurs in Southern Fujian to invest abroad and launch international trade."

Lin Xiaolin, chairman of Xiamen Zhi Jie international freight forwarding company, told reporters.

In recent years, trade barriers in Europe and the United States are increasingly building up. Since last October, North America's Canada, Peru and Argentina have made anti-dumping investigations on some export enterprises in China.

It is relatively difficult for Chinese enterprises to enter the market, while the China ASEAN Free Trade Area provides a new market for export enterprises.

Lin Xiaolin suggested that export enterprises could establish a regional cooperative relationship with ASEAN countries such as Thailand to avoid trade barriers. Enterprises should use tariff preferences to export semi-finished products and other intermediate products to ASEAN, then sell them to local products, or use ASEAN quotas to export to Europe and the United States.

At the same time, under the scale of benefit, zero tariff will inevitably reduce the cost of importers and exporters, reduce the price of products and increase the volume of turnover.

According to the reporter's understanding, with the opening of the "zero tariff" gate of ASEAN, more than 90% of commodities in China and ASEAN countries will achieve zero tariff.

As far as more than 90% of the goods from the enterprises in the FTA are issued, certificates of exemption can be granted when they are imported and exported. This preferential condition is even more favorable than WTO.

However, according to a survey by the relevant agencies, 70% of the enterprises in China and most of the ASEAN countries do not understand the relevant regulations and regulations, so they do not enjoy the benefits of tariff reduction.

Therefore, Professor Wang Qin, director of the Southeast Asian Research Center of Xiamen University, suggested that in the relevant training meeting held by the Xiamen Council for the promotion of trade (CCPIT), to do business with ASEAN, Minnan enterprises should take the initiative to apply for the preferential certificate of origin of the FTA and make good use of the preferential policies of tariff reduction.
