According to the Xinjiang development and Reform Commission, Korla will build the first national cotton reserve in Xinjiang, and is expected to be completed and put into operation in two, 00 and eight August.

It is understood that the national development and Reform Commission has officially approved the preliminary design of the project recently. According to the plan, Korla's central cotton transfer reserve is located at the east side of Korla West Railway Station and the south side of wuka (Urumqi Kashi) highway. The reservoir area covers an area of about three hundred and fifty-five mu. The scale of construction is 12500 tons of newly built cotton reserve capacity and one hundred and fifty thousand tons of cotton transfer capacity per year. The total investment of the project is RMB forty-three million and one hundred thousand yuan, all of which are invested in the central budget. The investment plan will be issued within the year. It is expected to be completed and put into operation in two, 00 and nine August.

Xinjiang is the most important cotton producing area in China. The total output of two, 00 and seven years is as high as two million and seven hundred thousand tons, more than 1/3 of China's cotton output, and more than 1/10 of world output. However, the shortage of cotton storage facilities and tight transport capacity have always been a problem faced by the cotton industry in Xinjiang. After the completion of the project, the problem will be solved effectively.

Experts said that through the implementation of cotton in situ reserves, will effectively adjust Xinjiang's cotton production, purchase and sale and market prices, in promoting the development of modern cotton logistics and cotton industry sustainable development plays an important role.
