Strike Vietnam Inflation

The Sai Gon footwear import and export Limited by Share Ltd in Hu Zhiming, Vietnam, in July 14th, nearly 500 workers went on strike, demanding higher wages and fewer shifts.

Striking workers said they had to work overtime 4 hours a day, and Sunday was no exception.

They vowed to resume work unless the company's chief executive agreed to raise wages and improve living conditions.

As of July 17th, strike workers had not yet resumed work.

In July 16th, the head of the company announced that it would improve the quality of meals and water, but did not reduce shifts.

The company's top executives also agreed to increase the daily salary of 2000 Dong Dong (about $0.12), but far from the demands of workers (5000 Vietnamese shield).

So far this year, Vietnamese textile, clothing and footwear companies are facing constant strikes. The main reason is the demand for salary adjustment resulting from the severe inflation in Vietnam.

Therefore, the Vietnamese government has issued regulations to restrict illegal strikes to make up for employers' losses.
